The Feasts of Trumpets.

Leviticus 23:23-25.

The Festival of Trumpets

The Lord said to Moses, Say to the Israelites: On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of Sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.

Rosh Hashanah or Jewish New Year is called the Feast of Trumpets in the Bible because it begins the Jewish High Holy Days and Ten Days of Repentance with the blowing of the ram's horn, the shofar, calling God's people together to repent from their sins.

The Feast of Trumpets.

Rosh HaShanah or Feast of Trumpets:

Rosh HaShanah literally means, "head of the year" and is commonly known as the Jewish New Year.

It is observed on the first day of Tishri, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar. Like Yom Kippur after it, Rosh HaShanah was not linked to the remembrance of any historical event.

While traditional Judaism believes that, on Rosh Hashanah, the destiny of all mankind is recorded by God in the Book of Life, the Bible has not expressly specified what this feast represents, simply stating that it was a High Sabbath on which they were to blow the shofar and do no work.

Rosh Hashanah heralded the beginning of the period known as the High Holy Days with The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) occurring ten days later, on the tenth of the month.

The Feast of Trumpets.

The Spring Feasts.

The Feast of Passover & Unleavened Bread & the Feast of First Fruits were all fulfilled at Jesus Christ’s first coming.

1 Corinthians 5:6-8.

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch as you really are.

For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

1 Corinthians 15:20,23.

But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order, Christ the first fruits, afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

The Feasts of Israel.

The Feast of Pentecost.

The Feast of Pentecost runs parallel with the order of the bridegroom making a covenant with his bride called a ketubah.

This happened at Mount Sinai when God made a covenant with Israel in the month of Sivan which is the month of Pentecost.

Jeremiah 31:31-32.

God said, Behold, days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them, declares the LORD.

This covenant was a marriage contract written upon tablets and sealed with the sprinkling of blood (Ex 24:1-8). A contract that could not be fulfilled by Israel therefore God sought for a new covenant not like the one at Sinai. On Pentecost, God sent His Holy Spirit to write this new covenant on our hearts by the Spirit as Paul says,

2 Cor 3:5-6.

Our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Feast of Pentecost.

Heb 8:10.

This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

After a bridegroom gave his bride a contract and made a covenant with her he would give her gifts called a mattan and the father would give her gifts as well called the shiluhhim. These gifts sustained his bride for the duration of their separation till their wedding day. The gift given by Jesus Christ and the Father was the gift of the Holy Spirit to sustain us till Jesus returns for His bride.

This was fulfilled at Pentecost fifty days after the resurrection of the Messiah. The requirement to bring a first fruit of the wheat harvest was symbolic of those who receive the Spirit of God.

Rom 8:23.

We ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons.

The Feast of Trumpets.

We have looked at the 3 spring Feasts which were fulfilled at Jesus 1st coming.

Now we will look at the 3 fall Feasts, which will be fulfilled at His 2nd coming.

Feast of Trumpets The 1st day of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah)

Leviticus 23:23-25.

This is the first of the fall feasts.

Many believe this day points to the Rapture of the Church when the Messiah Jesus will appear in the heavens as He comes for His bride, the Church.

The Rapture is always associated in Scripture with the blowing of a loud trumpet.

The history of the Calendar.

Prior to the Julian calendar, calendars appeared in many different versions.

An Egyptian calendar from approximately the year 3000 B.C. contained 365 days.

The ancient Greek civilization used a Metonic calendar "based on the observations of Meton of Athens (ca. 440 BC), which showed that 235 lunar months made up almost exactly 19 solar years.

The earliest ancient Roman calendar has been linked to Romulus who founded Rome around the year of 753 B.C. In this ancient calendar, the New Year occurred in March as it was the first month of the original ten month calendar. The ancient Roman calendar was based on lunar and harvest cycles instead of the solar cycle our current calendar is based on. The ten month calendar is where the seemingly awkward names of the last four months of the year comes from (Septem meaning seven, Octem meaning eight, Novem nine and Decem ten).

The history of the Calendar.

In the year of 46 B.C., the Julian twelve month calendar began. Julius Caesar abolished the use of the lunar year and the intercalary month, and regulated the civil year entirely by the Sun. Caesar created a calendar of 365 days for three sequential years and the following or fourth year would have 366 days. Caesar's calendar was called the Julian calendar.

Unfortunately, there was a discrepancy in the Julian calendar, one of which, over the years, became more prominent. Astronomers began to discover the discrepancy between the solar and the civil year; that the vernal equinox did not occupy the place it occupied in the time of Caesar, namely, the 24th of March, but was gradually retrograding toward the beginning of the year, so that at the meeting of the Council of Nice in 325 it fell on the 21st. The calendar was losing days.

By the time Gregory became Pope Gregory XIII in 1572, the discrepancy spanned many days. During his years as Pope, he chose to undertake the task of creating a solution to amend the calendar.

The history of the Calendar.

In March of 1582, Pope Gregory XIII abolished the Julian calendar and replaced it with the Gregorian calendar, named after him. "The edict of the Pope took effect in October [1582] of that year, causing the 5th to be called the 15th of that month, thus suppressing ten days and making the year 1582 to consist of only 355 days.

As Pope Gregory XIII was the leader of those specifically in the Catholic religion and not leader of civil governments, most countries of the Catholic faith made the calendar change in 1582. Other Catholic countries, such as Germany, made the change in the following year. Non-Catholic countries refused the change to the new Gregorian calendar. Most of the Protestant countries adhered to the Old Style until after the year 1700. Among the last was Great Britain; she, after having suffered a great deal of inconvenience for nearly two hundred years by using a different date from the most of Europe.

Today, there are still many countries who have not adopted the Gregorian calendar. These include Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Nepal, Iran and Afghanistan. Some countries use other calendars alongside the Gregorian calendar: India, Bangladesh, Israel, and Myanmar; other countries use a modified version of the Gregorian calendar: Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, North Korea and Taiwan. http://www.holidayscalendar.com/ newyears/ historyofthecalendar.html

The Three Annual Festivals.

Exodus 23:14-16. Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me. Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt. No one is to appear before me empty-handed. Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field. Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.

The Autumn Feasts relate to Kingdom/ political issues rather than the High Priestly/ religious matters that we saw Jesus address in the spring feasts during His first coming 2,000 years ago. Back then we saw Him ride into Jerusalem on a donkey as the 'Suffering Servant‘, but when Messiah returns this next time He will come as the Conquering King.

Hosea 6:1-2. Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.

2 Peter 3:8. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

The Feast of Trumpets.

The Feast of Trumpets.

The end of Daniel’s 69th week was marked with the Anointed One (Jesus Christ) been cut off. This was fore-shadowed in the Feast of Passover which was the 1st of the spring Feasts.

The Feast of Trumpets marks the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week or the 7 year tribulation period starting with a 7 year treaty that the Anti-Christ enters into with Israel.

The Feast of Atonement marks end of this 7 year period, the final day of this age, a day of Judgement.

During the first 3.5 years of the Tribulation period the new world order that is portrayed by the 10 horn beast is cloaked with the compromised Church ie: The Harlot, but in the middle of this 7 year the Beast or Anti-Christ shows his true colours.

In the first 1260 day period, the Harlot Church rules or presumes to rule, merely paving the way for the Anti-Christ.

Modern false dominion theology proponents will make the acceptance of the deception of the Anti-Christ very easy as many will feel this is the proof that these false prophets are men of God.

Blood Moons.

Luke 21: 25-28. And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Blood Moons.

“Will you accept God’s invitation according to His schedule, or must He accept your invitation on your schedule?” asked Mark Biltz, author of “Blood Moons”, which describes the astronomical series of lunar eclipses, or tetrads, that occur this year and next on Jewish holy days.

NASA says tetrads have occurred previously, but these events are happening on the biblical holidays of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, in 2014 and 2015.

When tetrads have occurred in the past on these holidays they have coincided with momentous events in the history of the Jewish people. The 1967 Six-Day War and the 1948 resurrection of the nation of Israel are two examples.

Mark Biltz also through research of Nasa’s data on eclipses, realised that there had not been 4 blood moons in a row in the 1600’s the 1700’s or the 1800’s, yet in the 1900’s there were these 2.

Blood Moons.

Wikipedia: The Blood Moon Prophecy is an idea popularized by Christian pastors John Hagee and Mark Biltz, which states that an ongoing tetrad (a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, with six full moons in between, and no intervening partial lunar eclipses) which began with the April 2014 lunar eclipse is a sign of the end times.

Lunar eclipse. The idea of a "blood moon" serving as an omen of the coming of the end times comes from the Book of Joel, where it is written "the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes." This phrase is again mentioned by Saint Peter during Pentecost, as recorded in Acts. On April 15, 2014, there was a total lunar eclipse. It was the first of four consecutive total eclipses in a series, known as a tetrad (the remaining three eclipses will take place on October 8, 2014, April 4, 2015, and September 28, 2015). It is one of eight tetrads during the 21st century AD. As with most eclipses, the moon appeared red during the April 15 eclipse. The red colour is caused by Rayleigh scattering of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere, the same effect that causes sunsets to appear red.

2014-2015 Jewish Comet & Tetrad Red Blood Eclipses

In 2014 – 2015 a rare sequence of Tetrad Red Blood Moon lunar eclipses will occur on the Jewish Holidays of Passover and the Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).

Two solar eclipses will also occur in 2015 on the Jewish New Years for KINGS and Feast of Trumpets Holidays. Comet ISON was vaporized by the Sun on November 28th, 2013 which was Thanksgiving Day – and the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah.

The 14th April 2014 Jewish Passover and 8th October 2014 Sukkot Lunar Eclipses take place on the SAME EXACT DATES as did the 70 AD Jewish Passover & Sukkot.

The Lunar Metonic cycle.

Wikipedia.

Meton of Athens was a Greek mathematician, astronomer, geometer, and engineer who lived in Athens in the 5th century BC. He is best known for calculations involving the eponymous 19-year Metonic cycle which he introduced in 432 BC into the lunisolar Attic calendar.

The metonic calendar incorporates knowledge that 19 solar years and 235 lunar months are very near equal, thus lunar periods repeat on the same day of the year as 19 years previous. This system was based on calculations made by Meton using his own observations of the summer solstice in 432 BC, and an observation made by Aristarchus 152 years later.

Meton's observations were made in collaboration with Euctemon about whom nothing else is known.

The Greek astronomer Callippus continued the work of Meton, proposing what is now termed the Callippic cycle. The Callippic cycle is 76 years long, four Metonic cycles. Callippus refined the Metonic cycle, deducting one day every four Metonic after 940 synodic lunar periods to synchronize the lunar calendar with the year.

The Lunar Metonic cycle.

Embolismal years are those years in which an extra (second) month of Adar, (a thirteenth month for that year), is inserted into lunar-solar Hebrew calendar.

These Embolismal years take place in years 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 19 in the 19 year Metonic cycle.

Great Tribulation starts midway through 7 year covenant.

Daniel 9:27. He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

Daniel 7:5. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time.

Revelation 12:6. The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Revelation 13:5. The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.

Daniel 12:11-12. From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days..

2 or 3 months of Adar are added into the Lunar calendar on a 7 year period in the 19 year Metonic cycle.

The Metonic cycle adds an extra month of Adar in 7 of the years of the 19 years of the cycle. Starting at the 1st of Tishri and counting 2550 days (1260 days + 1290 days) will take you up to the 10th of Tishri (The Day of Atonement) in 2014 and 2017 in our present Metonic cycle.

The number of moons from Tishrei of a given year, to Tishrei 7 years later varies.

It may be 7 x 12 = 84 Moons

plus 2 extra embolismal Adar 2 moons = 86 MOONS.

Or it may be 7 x 12 =84

plus 3 extra embolismal Adar 2 moons = 87 MOONS.

Those seven year spans containing 86 MOONS match up perfectly the time-span between the next two Feasts of Israel that are due for fulfilment.

Daniel’s 70 weeks.

Daniel 9:24-27.

Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven sevens, and sixty-two sevens. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

Daniel’s 70 weeks.

The 70 Weeks Prophecy are ten 49 year Jubilee cycles of 490 Biblical years. These 70 weeks of years take us right through to the climax at the very last day of the age. The ten Jubilees are neatly gift wrapped up in those 490 Biblical years, the seventy sevens, the time God has "determined" for His Holy City and His holy people.

The 70 Weeks Timeline has been "determined" or "cut out of time" by God for dealings with all His covenant people from both houses of Israel. See Daniel 9:24. From Daniel 9:27 we see that there are seven years remaining out of those 490 years. The Seventy Weeks of Daniel ends in spectacular fashion, with that long awaited epic Jubilee of Messiah.

The Feast of Trumpets.

Summary of reasons why Christians expect to see the rapture happen on the Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanna (Bibleprophecy.org/ introtrumpets)

All the Spring Feasts were fulfilled at Christ's first coming, and on the exact day of the feast. All the Fall Feasts picture the second advent, and the Feast of Trumpets is the first of the fall feasts, picturing the rapture.

The Feast of Trumpets is when the "last trump" of the rapture of 1 Cor 15 is blown.

The Feast of Trumpets is known as the Wedding of the Messiah, and the Church is the Bride of Christ, and the rapture is when the Church is caught up to heaven to be wed with Christ.

The Feast of Trumpets.

Summary of reasons why Christians expect to see the rapture happen on the Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanna

The Feast of Trumpets happens on the "new moon", which is 29.5 days after the last one, meaning it might occur on the 29th or 30th day, nobody knows for sure. "Of that day or hour no man knows" is an expression referring to this feast, and thus, the rapture.

"Of that day or hour no man knows, but my Father only" is an expression used by a groom when asked when his wedding will be. He says this because it is his Father that will tell him when his preparations on the bridal chamber are completed and it is time. Again, the wedding pictures the rapture.

The "Open Door" of the rapture in Matt 25, and Rev 3, & Rev 4:1 is a symbol of the Feast of Trumpets.

Ezek 46:1.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The gate of the inner court facing east is to be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it is to be opened.

The Feast of Trumpets.

Summary of reasons why Christians expect to see the rapture happen on the Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanna

We are told that the new moon and the Feasts of the Lord are a shadow of things to come. Col 2:16,17. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Since the Feast of Trumpets is the only Feast of the Lord that falls on a new moon, we should take particular note.

There are seven days of awe in between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. These picture the seven years of tribulation. Atonement pictures Satan being defeated and cast away at the end of tribulation. If you add the two day Trumpets feast, and the day of atonement, the 7 days of awe are "ten days of tribulation" which might be referred to in Rev. 2:10.

The Feast of Trumpets.

The Feast of Trumpets is the best fit for the rapture of the bride and is consistent with Jewish marriage customs.

We need to look at the Feast with Jewish eyes. The Jews had several idioms for the Feast of Trumpets that are significant in identifying the nature of this feast.

The feast was referred as “No one knows the day or hour”.

It was referred to this because it was celebrated by the first appearing of the moon. This could be difficult if there was any overcast, therefore, the feast could be delayed.

No one literally knew the day or hour it would be celebrated. If after two days the new moon could not be detected then it was celebrated. The two days were considered one. (unveilingthebride.com)

The Feast of Trumpets.

This feast was also referred to as the “Last Trumpet”.

It got this name because tradition has it that the trump or rams horn was blown for thirty days up till the feast and then the last trump was blown signalling the celebration of the feast.

These two idioms for the Feast of Trumpets give us insight into the Jewish mind. This is reflected in Paul’s letter,

1 Cor. 15:51-52.

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet ; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

The last trumpet is referring to the Feast of Trumpets and reveals the day of the resurrection of the Saints and catching away or rapture. (unveilingthebride.com)

The Feast of Trumpets.

A special season known as ‘Teshuvah’ which in Hebrew means “to return or repent”, begins on the first day of the month of Elul and continues 40 days, ending with Yom Kippur.

Thirty days into Teshuvah, on Tishrei 1, comes Rosh HaShanah.

This begins a final ten-day period beginning on Rosh HaShanah and ending on Yom Kippur. These are known as the High Holy Days and as the Awesome Days.

The Sabbath that falls within this ten-day period is called ‘Shabbat Shuvah’, the Sabbath of Return.

Five days after Yom Kippur is ‘Sukkot’, the Feast of Tabernacles. Teshuvah begins on Elul 1 and concludes on Tishrei 10, Yom Kippur.

Each morning during the 30 days of the month of Elul, the trumpet (shofar) or ram’s horn is blown to warn the people to repent and return to God.

The Feast of Trumpets.

I Thessalonians 4:16-17.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

I Corinthians 15:52.

Listen, I tell you a mystery:

We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Are you ready for the Rapture?

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.

According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
