The mystery of Israel

SERMON TOPIC: The mystery of Israel

Speaker: John Ward

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 6 December 2009

Topic Groups: ISRAEL, PROPHECY

Sermon synopsis: Up until fairly recent times, Israel and Jerusalem were seemingly insignificant.

Israel is diminutive – about the size of the Kruger National Park in S.A. There about 6 million people living there surrounded by countries with about 100 million enemies.

In the 19th century Mark Twain wrote, 'Rags, wretchedness, poverty and dirt, those signs and symbols that indicate the presence of Moslem rule more surely than the crescent flag itself, abound. Lepers, cripples, the blind and the idiotic assail you on every hand, and they know but one word of but one language apparently - the eternal 'bucksheesh' [bakhsheesh, 'alms'].... Jerusalem is mournful, and dreary, and lifeless. I would not desire to live here.'

AND YET GOD HAS GREAT PLANS FOR ISRAEL AND JERUSALEM!

Despite the fact that Replacement Theology teaches that all the promises of Israel are fulfilled in the Church, Romans 11 and other Scriptures clearly teach the restoration of Israel.
