Hosea - Part 1

Sermon synopsis: There is more information about this period of time in the Bible than any other – including the gospel period. The name Hosea means, salvation, or He saves or He helps (important to bear in mind among the judgement aspects of the book).

Hosea ministers in the time of the divided kingdom. He ministers to the northern kingdom. The northern kingdom had a problem with people travelling south to worship at the temple – so idol worship was encouraged. He is the last prophet to the northern kingdom and fulfils a role similar to Jeremiah in the south.

Hosea famously used his marriage as an illustration to demonstrate the people’s unfaithfulness.
