Sermon synopsis: PAUL, AN APOSTLE OF CHRIST JESUS … One who is sent. To this end SAUL was struck down on the road to DAMASCUS.
“GO, for I will SEND you far away to the GENTILES.” Acts 22:21. See also Acts 26:17-18.
BY THE WILL OF GOD … Service is always dependant upon GOD’S CALLING.
Thus GOD called ABRAHAM. MOSES was called of GOD. Both SAUL and DAVID were chosen of GOD to be KINGS over ISRAEL.
We see that JESUS CHOSE the TWELVE. Luke 6:12-16.
So CHRIST GAVE some as APOSTLES, and some as PROPHETS, and some as EVANGELISTS, and some as PASTORS and TEACHERS. Eph 4:11.
TO THE SAINTS WHO ARE AT EPHESUS … SAINTS are ordinary BELIEVERS and ALL BELIEVERS are SAINTS. The Greek word HAGIOS simply means HOLY. So in Heb 3:1 we read, “Wherefore, HOLY BRETHREN, partakers of a heavenly calling …”
EPHESUS. Many contend that the place name was left blank. The best texts however, record EPHESUS as the Assembly to which the epistle was addressed. This does not nullify the fact that GOD intended it for the WHOLE BODY OF CHRIST and, for this reason, it is included in the CANON of SCRIPTURE.
AND FAITHFUL IN CHRIST JESUS … The LORD requires FAITHFULNESS in HIS servants. Thus FAITHFULNESS is seen as one result of the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. Gal 5:22.
JESUS said, “Be FAITHFUL until DEATH, and I will give you the CROWN OF LIFE.” Rev 2:10.
