Authority - Capital punishment

Sermon synopsis: One of the ten choices that will change your life is the authority you decide to honour.

Authority has nothing to do with whether you like the person you have to submit to or not; authority has to do with obedience.

In Romans 13, Christian citizens are instructed to submit to the governing authorities; the only exception is where they directly oppose God’s higher authority (Acts 5:28-29).

We must obey out of conscience, not out of fear.

God instituted government for our protection (Genesis 9). What is the Biblical position on capital punishment in the light of the everlasting covenant that God established with man?

One of the signs of Jesus pending return is the current lawlessness and widespread disregard we see for authority, even in our own nation.
