Revelation - Chap 1-11

Sermon synopsis: This book is a REVELATION.
The Oxford Dictionary defines “REVELATION” as “Knowledge disclosed to man by DIVINE or SUPERNATURAL agency.” Thus, the TRUTH contained in this book is GOD-GIVEN TRUTH. What the REVELATION contains could NEVER have been KNOWN had GOD not been pleased to disclose it. When GOD disclosed certain FACTS to the prophet DANIEL concerning the FUTURE He said, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up until the TIME OF THE END.” Dan 12:9.
Speaking to JOHN however, GOD says, “Do not seal up the words of the PROPHECY of THIS BOOK, because the time is near.” Rev 22:10.
This book is thus not a SEALED but an UNSEALED book.
We must be careful not to allegorise or spiritualise what John has to say.
Let us understand the book as being a literal record of what GOD intends to do in the FUTURE.
