• Understand the definition and role of textual criticism with regards to Scripture.
• Understand what the source texts for the Old Testament are.
• Understand the debate regarding the superiority of the Septuagint, Dead Sea Scrolls and the Masoretic Text.
• Understand what the source texts for the New Testament are.
• Understand the debate regarding the superiority of the Majority Text and Textus Receptus versus the Minority Text (Critical Text).
• Understand the relative merits of the different translation methods used (Formal / Complete Equivalence, Functional / Dynamic Equivalence, Mediating)
• Understand the merits and recommended usage of different English Bible translations.
