Resurrection and Judgement and the End Time Feasts.
Hebrews 6:1-3. The 1st Principles (Basic Doctrines)
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits.
Understanding the Doctrines of the Resurrection of the dead and Judgement that awaits each one of us is crucial and foundational as a Christian and it helps to understand future events more clearly.
Resurrection and Judgement and the End Time Feasts.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11. Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Daniel’s 70 weeks.
Daniel 9:24-27.
Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven sevens, and sixty-two sevens. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
Daniel’s 70th week.
Daniel 9:27.
He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering.
And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
We are not sure exactly what this Abomination that causes desolation will look like, but the Anti-Christ will demand everyone’s worship.
Daniel’s 70th week.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-12. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Matthew 24:15-21.
So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel let the reader understand then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequalled from the beginning of the world until now and never to be equalled again.
The Feast of Trumpets marks the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week or the 7 year tribulation period. This starts with a 7 year treaty that the Anti-Christ enters into with Israel. After 1260 days the Anti-Christ and the desecrates the Temple with the Abomination of Desolation, this lasts for another 1260 and then Jesus Christ returns and the Temple is cleansed.
Daniel’s 70 weeks.
Just as Hezekiah cleansed the Temple after Israel’s idolatry so after the reign of the Anti-Christ the Temple will need to be cleansed again.
Daniel 8:11-14.
It set itself up to be as great as the commander
of the army of the Lord; it took away the daily sacrifice from the Lord, and his sanctuary was thrown down. Because of rebellion, the Lord’s people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled, the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people? He said to me, It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.
Daniel’s 70 weeks.
Here is an interesting thing I calculated while researching and writing an E-book on the antichrist (Gavin Paynter)
Latin was the language of the Romans. We believe that the Antichrist will most likely come from a revived form of the Roman Empire (European Union). The Latin numeral system we are so familiar with used only 7 of the Latin alphabet characters:
I=1
V=5
X=10
L=50
C=100
D=500
M=1000
The 6 lower value Latin letters which were used for their number system; excluding the ‘M’ add up to 666.
Daniel’s 70 weeks.
Immediately after the first 6 letters, which equate to 666, we get the seventh ‘M’ which is 1000. So too immediately after the antichrist (whose number is 666) we will have the Millennial Rule of Christ which is 1000 years.
Then in Roman mythology, Latinus was an early king of the Latins. Interestingly Irenaeus (the second generation disciple of the apostle John) mentions in the 2nd century AD that the name Latinus (meaning “Latin man”) equated to 666 in its Greek form:
“Then also Lateinos (ΛΑΤΕΙΝΟΣ) has the number six hundred and sixty-six; and it is a very probable [solution], this being the name of the last kingdom [of the four seen by Daniel]. For the Latins are they who at present bear rule: I will not, however, make any boast over this [coincidence].” (Against Heresies (Book 5 ch 30:3)
The Feast of Trumpets.
Teshuvah begins on Elul 1, ending on Tishrei 10, Yom Kippur.
Each morning during the 30 days of the month of Elul, the trumpet or ram’s horn is blown to warn the people to repent and return to God.
Thirty days into Teshuvah, on Tishrei 1, comes Rosh HaShanah. This begins a final ten-day period beginning on Rosh HaShanah and ending on Yom Kippur. These are known as the Days of Awe.
The Lunar Metonic cycle.
Embolismal years are those years in which an extra (second) month of Adar, (a thirteenth month for that year), is inserted into lunar-solar Hebrew calendar.
These Embolismal years take place in 7 of the years in the 19 year Metonic cycle, ie: 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 19.
Great Tribulation starts midway through 7 year covenant.
One or two months of Adar are added in to the Lunar calendar on a 7 year period in the 19 year Metonic cycle.
The Metonic cycle adds an extra month of Adar in 7 of the years of the 19 years of the cycle. Starting at the 1st of Tishri and counting 2550 days (1260 days + 1290 days) will only take you up to the 10th of Tishri (The Day of Atonement) in a
In these 7 year cycles from Tishri 1 to Tishri 1.
There are only 86 moons (2540 days)
The Lunar Mean Synodic Month from New Moon to New Moon is 29.530588 days.
29.530588 days x 86 moons is 2539.63 days and adding on the 10 days to take you up to The Day of Atonement (2550)
Daniel 12:912.
He replied, Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
45 days for the Matthew 25 Judgement to see who goes into the Millennium.
The Day of Atonement.
The Rapture differs from the second advent recorded previously in Matthew, as in this case the elect are not changed in the twinkling of an eye and caught up to meet the Lord, but are gathered from the four corners of the earth by Angels.
Matthew 24:29-31.
Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
One explanation for the Angels having to gather the Elect after the Tribulation, is that unlike the Raptured saints, they still have their earthly bodies and will need assistance as the earth and it’s transportation systems have been devastated.
The Resurrection.
The Resurrection, it is likened to the harvest.
The Jewish harvest has 3 phases:
The first fruits. Matthew 27:51-53.
The main harvest. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17.
The gleanings. Revelation 20:4-6.
The Resurrection.
The first fruits
Matthew 27:51-53.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
The Resurrection.
The main harvest.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.
According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
The Feast of Trumpets.
The Gleanings.
Revelation 20:4-6. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.
And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
Judgements to consider
Judgement of sin at the cross
Self-judgement of the believer
Judgement seat of Christ
Judgement of the Nations
Judgement of Israel
Judgement of fallen angels
Great White Throne Judgement
Judgement of sin at the cross
Isaiah 53 v 6 to 8
We all like sheep have gone astray each of us has turned to his own way and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all, he was oppressed and afflicted yet he did not open his mouth he was led as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before her shearers is silent so he did not open his mouth by oppression and judgement he was taken away…….for the transgression of my people he was stricken.
The self-judgement of the believer
1Corinthians 11 v 31 & 32
A man ought to examine himself…..
but if we judged ourselves we would not come under judgement when we are judged by the Lord we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world
The Judgement seat of Christ
11 Corinthians 5 v10
We must all appear before the Judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
1 Corinthians 3 v 10-13
The Judgement of Israel
Ezekiel 20 v 33 to 44
As surely as I live declares the Sovereign Lord, I will rule over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath. I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath. I will bring you into the desert of the nations and there, face to face, I will execute judgement upon you………
Judgement of the Nations
Matthew 25 v 31 to 46
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats
The Great White Throne Judgement
Judgement of the wicked
Revelation 20 v 11 to 25.
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Will a loving God judge man
For those we believe God will not Judge man for his sin and wickedness here are some points to ponder.
