Sermon synopsis: You are saved by faith.
You cannot be saved by works.

Romans 4:1-5 NKJV What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something of which to boast, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

SERMON TOPIC: Repentance

Speaker: Richard Bandawo

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 26 February 2012

Topic Groups: REPENTANCE, FIRST PRINCIPLES

Sermon synopsis: The word “repentance 'means a “change of mind.”The Bible clearly teaches that repentance is necessary for salvation.
Acts 2:38
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy spirit”. It is impossible for anyone to be saved without repentance. But what exactly is repentance in the Bible.
Repentance is when we make a u-turn in our mind concerning Christ and our sins.
Repentance includes a sinner taking the blame for his sinful condition before God and siding with Him against himself.
A repentant blames no one else for his condition, but rather condemns himself under God’s eternal wrath because he deserves it.
Repentance leads to confession of sin, Hiding nothing, a sinner owns his sins and pours out his sinful heart to God.

SERMON TOPIC: Godly sorrow

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 26 September 2011

Topic Groups: GODLY SORROW, REPENTANCE

Sermon synopsis: 2 Cor 7:8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it - I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while - 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

SERMON TOPIC: Condemnation

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 16 September 2011

Topic Groups: CONDEMNATION, REPENTANCE

Sermon synopsis: John 8:3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, 'Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?' 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on
questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, 'If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.' 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?'
11 'No one, sir,' she said.'Then neither do I condemn you,' Jesus declared. 'Go now and leave your life of sin.'

SERMON TOPIC: Repentance

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 31 January 2010

Topic Groups: REPENTANCE, FIRST PRINCIPLES

Sermon synopsis: What is repentance? The Latin translation (the Vulgate) used a word for repentance that has the connotation of being sorry. But the original New Testament Greek work “Metanoia” for repentance means more than that. It means a change of mind or a change of thinking.

SERMON TOPIC: Sins Transgressions and Iniquity

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 26 January 1997

Topic Groups: SIN, REPENTANCE, HOLINESS

Sermon synopsis: Some focus only on God’s forgiveness at the expense of holiness.

When certain portions of truth are extracted at the expense of the whole truth, it leads us into error.

Jesus didn’t only die to set us free from the penalty of sin – but to set us free from the power of sin.

Jesus’ blood speaks of the cleansing of our sin, but Jesus said that we must partake of his body as well – we must have the life of Christ in us.

It’s not that sin hasn’t been adequately provided for in the atonement – but sin is taken far too lightly by some.

SERMON TOPIC: Hardened hearts

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 2 February 1996

Topic Groups: REPENTANCE, THE HEART

Sermon synopsis: People have this imagery from Rev 3:20 that Jesus will knock on the door of your heart your whole life until you finally respond.
But beware you don’t open the door to find He’s no longer there.

You must “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” (Isa 55:6)

We need to recognize God’s day of visitation. We need to recognize the appointments God makes with us and get away from the idea that God is just there to be called upon if and when it suits us.

SPIRITUAL TRUTH THAT IS KNOWN BUT NOT ACTED UPON - BRINGS HARDNESS OF HEART.
