Ken-Paynter/Prayer-and-Generational-curses.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: Prayer and Generational curses

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 19 August 2019

Topic Groups: GENERATIONAL CURSES, PRAYER, FALSE DOCTRINE

Sermon synopsis: Let’s consider the topic of “Christian superstition”. Perhaps some of us would not be too keen to admit that we are superstitious, but I’ve encountered quite a number of Christians that have been influenced by this teaching of “blood line curses”, “generational curses” and so on. In my opinion, there are two reasons why this type of thing has an appeal.

Ken-Paynter/PRAYER-AND-FAITH.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: Prayer and faith

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 12 August 2019

Topic Groups: BINDING AND LOOSING, PRAYER, FAITH

Sermon synopsis: How do our prayers and God’s sovereignty and will relate, and are we able to command apart from God’s will.

If “binding and loosing”, “pleading the blood” and all that type of thing were legitimate tools in our spiritual warfare and so effective, why didn’t the apostles ever use them? You won’t find one instance with Peter or Paul or one of the apostles “pleading the blood” or “binding and loosing” and all these other strange things that Christians in modern spiritual warfare engage in. They are not part of the weapons that are laid out in Ephesians 6 when it speaks about the armour of God.

- Traditions
- Vain repetitions
- Formulas or Lucky charms
- Christian superstitions

Ken-Paynter/The-Discipline-of-solitude.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: The Discipline of solitude

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 30 June 2019

Topic Groups: SOLITUDE, PRAYER, DISCIPLINE

Sermon synopsis: Solitude is not a bad thing, in fact it is a very necessary thing for a Christian.

The Discipline of Solitude is the practice of our 'waiting for God'. This is an aspect of private prayer and worship, but instead of doing the talking we do the listening. This means we still ourselves to hear what God has to say. This is about our willingness to be examined by God, to hear His voice because we have moved anything that is in the way of Him.

We might tell ourselves we prefer God’s company to that of any other person or thing in the world. Solitude puts that claim to the test.

SERMON TOPIC: Esther chapter 5 and 6

Speaker: Gavin Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 22 May 2016

Topic Groups: ESTHER, TYPOLOGY, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Having found favour with the king, Esther was offered up to “half the kingdom”. Now if you were given a “blank cheque” by the king what would you ask for? Money? Possessions? Power? Privileges? Esther used the king’s open offer to benefit not herself, but others. She was there primarily to intercede for her people.

Speaker: Tommy Archibald

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 16 February 2014

Topic Groups: HEARING GOD, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Psa 91:1 (NKJV) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.'
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 'Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.'

SERMON TOPIC: Fasting and Prayer

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 6 January 2013

Topic Groups: FASTING, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Isaiah 58:1-11
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

SERMON TOPIC: Jacob wrestles with God

Speaker: Leston Blackburn

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 25 November 2012

Topic Groups: HEARING GOD, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Genesis 32:22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”

“Jacob,” he answered.

28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”

But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

Gary-Barnett/Gary-Barnett.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: I should have prayed

Speaker: Gary Barnett

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 5 August 2012

Topic Groups: PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Matt 26: 30And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
31Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. 33Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. 34Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 35Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
36Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (KJV)

Des-Burrows/20120325_In-Jesus-Name.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: In Jesus' name

Speaker: Des Burrows

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 25 March 2012

Topic Groups: PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: To ask for something (anything) in Jesus name - We have to live “In Jesus Name”

Well - How do we do that?

We have learnt that when we pray (ask) God the Father we need to pray (ask) in Jesus name. What does that mean?

Note that Jesus said ask the FATHER in His name

Jesus Himself said! While He was on earth!

“I will do whatever you ask in my name, (WHY?) so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”
(John 14:13-14)

Ken-Paynter/20120212_Seeing-Gods-face.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: Seeing God's face

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 12 February 2012

Topic Groups: HEARING GOD, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: Jesus said the Pharisees were blind leaders of the blind.
So clearly self righteousness blinds us from seeing ourselves as we really are and subsequently God cannot reveal himself to us.
We don’t need a Seminar to help us to improve our self image, we need an encounter with the Lord.
The only reason we can ever judge others, is that we have never seen our own heart, and if that is the case, we have never seen the Lord.

SERMON TOPIC: Hearing God

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 15 January 2012

Sermon synopsis: Mark 4:23-25 He who has ears to hear let him hear. Consider carefully what you hear, with the measure you use it will be given to you and even more. He who hears will be given more, he who does not hear even that which he has will be taken away.

SERMON TOPIC: Hearing from God

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 26 September 2011

Topic Groups: HEARING GOD, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: 1 Sam 1:12 As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to her, 'How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine.'
15 'Not so, my lord,' Hannah replied, 'I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD. 16 Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.'
17 Eli answered, 'Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.'
18 She said, 'May your servant find favor in your eyes.' Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.
19 Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went back to their home at Ramah.
Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.
20 So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying,
'Because I asked the LORD for him.'

Ken-Paynter/Ken-Paynter.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: Fasting

Speaker: Ken Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 23 June 2011

Topic Groups: FASTING, PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: The physical & spiritual benefits of fasting.
Isa 58:3 ''Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?'
'Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers. 4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
and for lying on sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD?
6 'Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.'

Siegfried-Aussel/Siegfried-Aussel.jpg

SERMON TOPIC: Pray for our nation

Speaker: Siegfried Aussel

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 4 July 2010

Topic Groups: PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: 300 sangomas went to Soccer City to offer animal sacrifices to wicked evil spirits in an attempt to procure blessings for South Africa during the Soccer World Cup. Despite their prayers to these false gods, South Africa became the first host nation ever to be knocked out in the first round.

This is reminiscent of the 450 prophets of Baal in the OT who failed to get their false god to bring down fire from heaven.
Elijah the prophet of the true God said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21)

We are instructed in the Bible not to complain about our government, but to pray for them. Are we obeying this command?

1 Tim 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Speaker: Gavin Paynter

Speaker: Joseph Mpakanyane

Language: ENGLISH

Date: 29 August 1999

Sermon synopsis: Act 6:1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”

SERMON TOPIC: PRAYER IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER

Speaker: Warren Paynter

Language: ENGLISH

Date:

Topic Groups: PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: In Eph 6:14-18 we see that the CHRISTIAN ARMOUR (PANOPLIA) consists of LOINS girded with TRUTH, the Breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, Feet shed with the EQUIPMENT of the GOSPEL of PEACE, the SHIELD of FAITH, the HELMET of SALVATION, the SWORD of the SPIRIT which is the WORD of GOD, and FINALLY, PRAYING at all times in the SPIRIT with ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION. Many Christians are unaware of the fact that PRAYER is a WEAPON in their armoury, to be used against SATAN and his FALLEN ANGELS.

Speaker: Maureen Onions

Language: ENGLISH

Topic Groups: PRAYER

Sermon synopsis: People are made to have relationships! Nothing nicer than a trust
and close fellowship between people. God also really desired to have fellowship and when He made Adam and Eve, He walked and talked with them in the cool of the evening! Until they sinned through disobedience.
GOD STILL DESIRES TO HAVE THAT INTIMACY OF FELLOWSHIP
WITH US… and through Jesus and the blood He shed to cleanse our sin away, our fellowship with God is restored.
