Sermon synopsis: The 5th saying of Jesus on the cross.

John 19:28 Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.

In the sayings of Jesus on the cross, He first considers His enemies, secondly the thief next to Him, thirdly His mother and then only does He consider His own physical needs.

But was this a physical thirst or a spiritual thirst that Jesus was referring to?
